Drought Management

Drought is a concern that every citizen in Texas faces. Bandera County, while having an average rainfall of about 32 inches per year, has extremely variable rainfall and oscillates between years of plenty and years of scarcity. BCRAGD aims to mitigate the negative effects of drought by implementing and enforcing our Drought Management Plan.

The Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District has the authority to monitor and restrict the production from all Permitted Wells during times of drought. Permitted Wells are wells that are not exempt from permitting under Chapter 36 of the Water Code and under District Rules. This Board approved Drought Management Plan places the following reasonable restrictions on Permitted Wells.
